Totally loving the updated look for Ash! I like that they're finally making his eyes match the other characters of the series. I always was puzzled why he ended up with black slits for iris' when no other character ever appeared with them. The animation looks like its also been taken up a notch and according to Serebii the storyline is supposed to move faster then previous seasons which will be great  |

So far from what I've seen, it's true about the faster pace. =D The Indigo and Orange Islands were pretty good with pacing, but then ... Oi. I mean I was enjoying the Johto episodes and all, but the gaps between gyms was getting a bit silly. It was improved in Advanced, but then gyms felt forever apart in Diamond+Pearl again. xD

It got so lengthy cause they also focused on the contests. So the pattern was gym, contest, gym, contest, etc. They've removed the contests so they can focus on Ash more again ;D

To be honest though, I really enjoyed watching May's contests in Advanced. I really liked her a lot, so watching her contests were just as fun as watching Ash's gym battles. XD
But seeing as I hate Iris with a firey passion, I'm glad to hear that I won't have to sit through contests with her. @_@ She's the first Pokemon character that I've ever hated, so it's a relief that I won't have to. xD
I'm hoping her character improves as Best Wishes goes on. Right now I hate her, but I definitley am hoping I'll like her later on. It's a lot less fun when you hate one of the main characters. =/

I'm holding judgment on Iris until I see the English version. Since I don't understand what she's saying it's hard to truly know what kind of person she is other than hyper. Dawn was the same for me, wasn't sure about her until I saw the English version, then she became one of my favourite female characters.

I'm watching Best Wishes subbed, so I know what's she saying and ... she's horribly bratty. @_@ I'm hoping that they'll make her better as the show goes along. It's not fun disliking a character so much. U_U So even though I really don't like her so far, I'm trying to keep an open mind and am being hopeful that I'll her (or at least not hate her) as the show goes on.

Sometimes Pokémon International will change a characters personality in the dub. Meowth for example is more serious and philosophical in Japan while ours is more of a wise cracker.

That's actually a very good point. =) I love Meowth in English, but I'm not the biggest fan of his Japanese counterpart. (Though that's mainly due to the voice. XD)
Hopefully Pokemon International will make Iris a more likeable character. <3
